When we got to siem reap, we went straight for the floating markets. It's very strange. It's a village with thousands of people in the middle of a river. We travelled by boat to the floating village---- obviously. On the way there weirdest thing happen. A bunch of small canoes with motors pulled up beside us with families. The kids had snakes wrapped around their necks and kept yelling for us to take pictures with these half dead snakes. Uhhhh no thanks. Delle kept saying they reminded her of pirates. Apparently some people on the floating village have never even been on land before. Quite interesting.
We spent the night at a Mexican restaurant and checking out the night markets....... Trying very hard to not buy everything we see!!!! People on pub street constantly asking if we want massages or pedicures! Like of course we do!!!!!
Had to wake up at 430 to go to Angkor Wat to see the sunrise over it. Very pretty view. Pictures below. And went to the tomb raider temple where the movie was filmed. Delle said it was disappointing to see compared to the movie. Just a bunch of rubble really. And our favourite Buddha face temple.
We went out for dinner at night with the whole group for a goodbye dinner And then headed to a club called "Angkor what?" Love the name!!! And we had some buckets and everyone signed each others shirts!! Great way to end an awesome tour!!!
Angkor wat looks amazing! So jealous!

ReplyDeleteBoat people provide an interesting cultural perspective. Never been on land you say lassie!
Temple looks great, looks like a rubble of rock now, but in a few years you will appreciate it. Did you do the Lara Croft jump!
