First day in Cambodia

We made it! Quick and easy flight, landed yesterday afternoon. Visited the killing fields and S-21. This was a tough couple hours. Still giant holes from when they excavated the bodies 30 years ago. We could actually see and walk over the human bones and clothes that are still being washed up on the site. There was a monument with over 8000 skulls in it that they had excavated. Our Cambodian guide was really good and very informative and made the mood a bit lighter with some jokes, and when he couldn't get through telling the joke because he was laughing so hard at himself!

For dinner was the FRIENDS restaurant which is an Australian own restaurant that teaches adolescent Cambodian children about the hospitality industry. Great service, decent food and best of all.... Deep fried tarantulas! We have pictures eating those. They actually weren't that bad, just chewy... And the worst part was getting enough courage to put it in your mouth!

  1. One pauses a moment for thought and wonders how does this happen?
