Anyways after custom shopping in Hoi An we took a 4 hr bus ride to Hue. Unfortunately the airport here is under construction so we didn't have the option to fly. We are kind of sick of flights anyways so it was a nice break. Plus I got a new book to read! And since shauna has no interest in reading, she has gotten really good at her candy breaker game she plays on her phone. Haha!
Checked into the new hotel, this was a small little town in Hue, not really much happening so we decided to have a graffiti party with the group! I think this night was the best ice breaker. No pictures attached of what people wrote on our shirts.... I don't think that's worth sharing on here!
More interestingly we went for a sicklo ride (pretty much baby carriages for grown ups powered by a scrawny old Vietnamese man on a bike) to the imperial city. Pictures included below. Here we managed to locate a tennis court (completely random) and got some ice cream! The tour guide told us it would take them over 50 years to restore the imperial city. What we saw was pretty much just burnt buildings and rubble, but some buildings were still intact and the area was beautiful. Also below, is a picture of the tien mu pagoda which is known as being the tallest temple in Vietnam with 7 stories.
That night we went to a local families small restaurant for dinner. This restaurant hosts tons of tourists around the world and they let you sign the walls. I happened to have a few drinks in me and decided it would be a good idea to sign the ceiling with the help of two fellas on the tour and a sketchy step ladder. We got these cool bottle openers too. The father of the family set up the bottles with the openers on them and karate chopped them which opened up like 5 beers at once! Pictures of that also below :)
Drove back to Da Nang to fly back to Hanoi. There seemed to be a pattern with these hotel rooms where they would only have one queen bed in them, but the staff add in a crappy single cot right beside the queen bed! Useless! Shauna and I rotate on who gets the big bed, but then decided it would be easier to just put all our crap on the stupid cot and share the big queen bed!
Check out the many pics below! **FYI picture quality is so bad because we are taking them of what's on the camera.
